blue square dot Mike Kowalski, Beach Boys drummer since 1968, has a new album out entitled The Backsters Live. It's an amazing blues CD which features Kowalski's long time partner Joel Peskin. Joel is a studio musician who has played on several Beach Boys alums. His most famous Beach Boy contribution is the sax solo on “Kokomo.” Mike is one of the best drummers around and he shows it off in The Backsters Live. (12/11/96)

blue square dot The Beach Boys' new album, Stars and Stripes Vol. I, teams the group up with country artists. Tracks include Willie Nelson's “The Warmth of the Sun,” Lorrie Morgan's “Don't Worry Baby,” James House's “Little Deuce Coupe,” Toby Keith's “Be True to Your School,” Junior Brown's “409,” along with tracks with Sawyer Brown, Timothy B. Schmidt, Kathy Troccoli, Ricky Van Shelton, Collin Raye, and Doug Supernaw. The recording is on the River North Nashville label.
